DNV forecasts that global CCS capacity will grow from 41MtCO₂ per year today to 1,300MtCO₂ annually by 2050 – a 30-fold increase. While this marks a significant scale-up, it would account for only 6% of global CO₂ emissions, far below the level required to meet net-zero targets. The report warns that without stronger policy support and investment, CCS deployment will fall short of its climate potential.
