What we do

QRA & Loss Prevention

Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) and Loss Prevention are inextricably linked fulfilling crucial roles in energy sector projects and in energy transition where new technologies are developed and projects commenced. Safety engineering underpins both disciplines, providing the systematic design principles and operational safeguards necessary.

Energy systems need to be reliable and resilient in current operations and to support the transition to sustainable energy sources. By conducting QRAs, potential vulnerabilities in the energy infrastructure can be identified and addressed through safety engineering practices. This ensures that energy systems operate safely and effectively.

The adoption of innovative technologies and processes may introduce new and unanticipated risks to the energy infrastructure. QRA helps in identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and developing strategies to mitigate such changes while loss prevention ensures that safety measures are integrated into the design and operation.

RMRI has undertaken QRAs for a broad spectrum of clients, NOCs, ‘majors’, regulators and others for over 30 years and these assessments have contributed to the safe operations of projects. QRA continues to be a powerful methodology for:

Identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks to ensure safe operations.

Ensuring the reliability and resilience of existing energy systems and transition impact.

Compliance with regulations and demonstration of safety of operations.

Cost effectiveness, sustainability and suitability of large scale engineered systems.
