DESNZ Launches NPT Pathfinder Process

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) launched the Non-Pipeline Transport (NPT) Pathfinder selection process. It invites CCUS projects seeking to connect to the East Coast Cluster (ECC) Teesside network by 2032 using transport other than a direct pipeline – truck, rail, ship or barge. It runs alongside the main ECC Teesside Selection Process, which covers pipeline-connected projects.

RMRI notes that the Pathfinder’s Transition Access Agreement route expects the developer to carry most cross-chain risk itself, with transport-and-storage outage support offered only case by case.
